Time to Go to work

I remember the days of blinds being opened, allowing the sunlight to come into my room then feeling a gentle touch on my chest from my mother as she softly spoke, at first, "It's time to get up and go to school." My mind would begin to operate as it should and bring remembrance of the previous day with a projection of the current day. It was always a little more challenging to get going on a Monday unless I had anticipation of something remarkable taking place.

In the stillness of daybreak, the sounds of native birds and insects are faintly heard with the mixture of tones from the inhaling and exhaling of men sleeping. The weary bodies of the disciples are resting well from the extensive travel and ministry of the previous day. They had walked many miles, dealing with the crowds desperate for the touch of their Master. If one would ask these men what day on their job was like, they may not be able to recall everything that took place because the magnitude of miracles and blessings was too much to keep up with.

They are also re-energizing for what is in store for today. The sun has now risen high enough to cast light and warmth on their faces. The sensitivity of the eyes causes them to tighten just a bit in awareness of its presence. Then, one set of eyes loosens and begins to crack open because of a shadow cast. John looks, eyes squinted, to see a silhouette of a man standing a few feet from him. The Son had risen before the sun to spend time with the Father in preparation for the day. Now, He watches His disciples as they rest and He waits for them to arise. "What is it, My Lord?" John asks. Jesus kneels down and places His hand on John's chest. With a smile that's brighter than the sun, He says, "Get up, it's time to go to work."

"Then He said to His disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field'." - Matthew 9:37-38 (NIV)

Jesus watched you as you rested last night. He was interceding for you before you awoke. What opportunities await you today? As Christ-followers, you have the same power as Jesus to see miracles and give blessings. Someone needs you to preach the good news and bring healing. The sun isn't what woke you this morning with its presence. It was The Son and His presence as he gently said, "Get up, it's time to go to work."
