Day 18
While in prayer during "21 - Fasting. Praying. Giving.," I have been challenged by the Spirit to pray for students that have been away from the youth ministry for quite some time. A few have even stated they wouldn't return for various reasons. I tend to take most things extremely personal. Ministry is not the place to have such a disposition. Remember, I'm Continuously Created - still learning. It was hard for my flesh to pray for those I've worked so hard to be a part and yet they continue to reject the invitation. I'm humbled and thankful that the Holy Spirit is much more convincing.
Tonight in our mid-week gathering of Kree8 Youth ministry, three of the students I have been led to pray for were in service with us. I approached one student, expressed my joy in seeing her back, and shared that I had been specifically praying for her the past 3 weeks. She had a sense of shock in her expression and told me that two different students she didn't know attended now had approached her, inviting her to attend. She laughed and said, "I don't know what your speaking about tonight, but I couldn't argue with the fact that I was meant to be here for it. That was a sign for me. I couldn't say no."
It was extremely uplifting to see these students. Many would discount their attendance to a simple timing issue, or perhaps coincidence. That will have no bearing on my praise tonight and each day hereafter. This was another sign of God honoring His word and result of relationship with His children. I know why those students were there and Who made it possible.
Surprised? No.
Thankful? Humbled? Excited? Driven? Focused? Absolutely!

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, he hears us. And if we know that He hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked for. - 1 John 5:14-15
