Vast Love
On a day where commercialism exploits "love," true Christianity should be seen, felt, and given above all else - freely. For those who proclaim to have the love of Christ dwelling within, this day was like all others. It was an opportunity to share love that enables, encourages, sustains, and engages those who may feel hopeless and lonely into a relationship with the One who is LOVE.
Society measures love toward individuals by the amount of money spent for gifts on what we know as Valentine's Day. Many lived ashamed and disappointed based on that measurement today. I don't know if there is a feeling worse than that of being unloved. Jesus made sure that He would pay the highest price so that everyone could know the power in true love.
Paul understood the love of Christ and though he may not be quoted in popular greeting cards, he's forever recorded in God's word reminding us all of what every day means for anyone who would accept His love. A love that's unfailing, perfect, priceless, and constant.
"And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge - that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God."
Ephesians 3:18-19 (NIV)
What a vast love our Savior has for us! Those are words we all can cling to. That's a truth we all must know. That's a message we all must share - on Valentine's Day and every day.
