Wake up! Stay awake!

I'm excited and appalled that we hold a Missions Conference.  The recognition of those who are serving the Great Commission, songs that drive the heart to cry out to God for direction, freedom and salvation for those that can't cry themselves, realization that our local body is not truly acting as THE body, necessity for prayer, awareness of another open door to minister, repentance, gratitude, purpose, unity!

All such things should ignite the soul for such a meeting.  The fact a meeting is necessary to ignite the soul and remind us of our first calling is, well, appalling.  We are lulled to sleep by our own comfortable lives while the world needs Jesus - us.

We are to be light to a dark world.

"'Wake up, o sleeper, rise from the dead, and
Christ will shine on you.'  Be very careful,
then, how you live - not as unwise but as
wise, making the most of every opportunity
because the days are evil.  Therefore do not
be foolish, but understand what the Lord's
     will is."
                                Ephesians 5:14-17

I know the good that will come from our conference.  I just don't want it to be the only reason we feel an urgency.  The Lord's will hasn't changed.  This urgency should be a daily recurrence, not just an annual occurence.

Wake up and stay awake!
